1B had fun with a pumpkin investigation! We counted ribs, measured, described, carved, and designed our own silly faces. We even did pumpkin science: sink or float?...2 students predicted correctly! They were amazed a pumpkin could float. 🎃

Just a reminder that the character book parade will be held at 8:30 tomorrow morning! Here is the route. Please line the streets and stay off of the sidewalks so students have a clear path. See you in the morning! 👻🎃🧙

Congratulations to the 4-6 Rangers of the Month! The character word of October was dependability. Being dependable means being someone other can count on to do what is expected! We are so proud of these amazing, dependable Ranger kids! Way to go! 4th graders Lila Phillips and Addison Homan. 5th graders Kurtis Knapke and Micah Settlage. 6th graders Andrew Hoge and Brady Henschen.

This afternoon, Julie Arnold visited the third-grade classrooms to share a wonderful introduction to Japanese culture. Under her guidance, students practiced using chopsticks and learned to count to ten by picking up pieces of popcorn. With the help of parent volunteer, Sara Slaughter, they also played Fukuwarai- a traditional game similar to "Pin the Tail on the Donkey"-where blindfolded students arranged facial features like eyes, eyebrows, and lips onto a blank face. The children loved tasting a variety of Japanese treats, including roasted seaweed snacks, jagaimo (potato sticks), Haribo gummy bears, and Pocky sticks. Students crafted jumping frogs through origami and created their own traditional hachimaki headbands. Beyond the activities, students discovered fascinating differences about school life in Japan, learning that Japanese children wear uniforms, attend school for a much longer academic year, and personally clean their classrooms to show respect and take ownership of their space. Thank you, Julie, for such an engaging and educational experience!
