Our third graders had a wonderful outdoor adventure at Brukner Nature Center! It was a total blast and a truly valuable learning experience. The students dove right into the fun, literally, as they searched for living organisms in the creek and pond, with a few explorers getting a bit wet in the process! With the help of knowledgeable volunteers, the children identified the creatures they found, bringing their science lessons to life. From hiking the trails and seeing mammals and birds to the thrill of touching a snake, the day was packed with excitement and fun!

Our final unit for Quantative Reasoning was Cola Wars - that is Pepsi vs Coca-Cola. Students formed froups of 3 or 4 and conducted blind taste tests. They used the Binomial distribution for their experiment. In the Coke vs Pepsi taste test, participants were asked to guess whether what they are tasting is Coke or Pepsi. "Success" could be defined as guessing correctly that when you say you're drinking Pepsi, it is indeed Pepsi. "Failure" could be defined as guessing incorrectly that you are drinking Pepsi when in fact you're drinking Coke. Students really enjoyed this Unit.

For our Probability Unit, we conducted experiments on Free Throws for the Win. Students made fifteen shots from the free throw line and then calculated their free throw percentages. Here are a few pictures.

During Dino Day, third graders participated in a fun and engaging math review for the State Math Assessment by completing 10 challenging problem-solving stations. Working with a partner allowed students to collaborate and talk through questions, reinforcing critical thinking skills. To make the educational experience more exciting, each correctly completed station earned students a chance to go digging for dinosaur fossils. Snacks in the shapes of dinosaurs were a big hit as well!
